Development of next-gen immune-reactive proteins using innovative technologies

BioMARIC is developing innovative biomaterials for use in life saving IVD applications, based on HUMAN monoclonal antibodies originating from immune cells obtained from selected infected individuals. Protein engineering technologies provided by a multidisciplinary approach combining in vitro biophysical techniques and computational structural biology methods predict and simulate protein aggregation, protein stability, dynamics and protein folding.

Prevention of infectious disease spread by high-performance blood screening endproducts

During the first years of activity BioMARIC mainly focused on the development of highly sensitive and specific HIV assays in order to prevent as much as possible blood-transmitted infection with the devastating AIDS virus. BioMARIC’s fourth generation HIV assay is now being successfully used in several countries all over the world. The HIV 4th generation ELISA assay is able to simultaneously detect the HIV virus itself as well as antibodies to HIV when present in the blood of HIV-infected donors. BioMARIC’s HIV 4th generation ELISA assay has been ranked as one of the best performing ELISA kit worldwide.

Prevention of infectious disease spread by vaccination

In addition to diagnostic assays particularly adapted to the needs in tropical countries, BioMARIC is now also embarking on a broad vaccine program based on a generic vaccine technology platform allowing the rapid selection of suitable viral epitopes and the subsequent development of protective vaccines without the obligatory use of adjuvant.
